During the restoration of the Hotel Palace in Madrid, a listed building with Monument status, a comprehensive intervention was carried out on the facades, guest rooms, and common areas, with the aim of restoring the building’s original appearance while fully respecting its heritage value. Works included cleaning, consolidation, and selective replacement of ornamental elements, as well as the recovery of original colour schemes.
The restoration of the common areas focused on the revalorization of the public spaces within the hotel, encompassing the specialized restoration of original architectural and decorative elements such as moldings, capitals, stuccoes, stone claddings, leaded stained glass windows, historical light fixtures, and ornamental finishes. All interventions followed reversibility and minimal intervention criteria, using techniques compatible with the existing materials. In parallel, the HVAC, electrical, and lighting systems were renewed and discreetly integrated, ensuring their operability without compromising the historical character of the spaces.
