Following the award of the public tender promoted by Rey Juan Carlos University (URJC), the Joint Venture formed by PROSKENE and Arvo Arquitectura SLP developed a specialized technical intervention in the Buen Suceso building, aimed at its future comprehensive rehabilitation. The scope of the work included a detailed on-site data collection campaign, focused on documenting the geometric and construction characteristics of the building, as well as the development of a complete structural model, essential for assessing the building’s load-bearing behavior and identifying critical zones.
The intervention also included the material characterization of structural and envelope elements, using non-destructive testing (NDT) and specific analyses to determine the physical and mechanical properties of existing materials. A thorough pathology diagnosis was carried out, focusing on cracks, deformations, loss of structural capacity, and deterioration processes due to moisture and fatigue. Based on this diagnosis, a technical proposal for structural reinforcement and stabilization was developed, guided by principles of compatibility, minimal intervention, and alignment with the functional requirements for the building’s future academic and administrative use.
