The comprehensive rehabilitation of the listed building located at 19 Zorrilla Street, in the historic center of Madrid, was aimed at transforming the property into a high-end residential complex, while preserving its protected elements and original configuration. The intervention conserved and restored the building’s original structure—comprising load-bearing masonry walls and timber framing—as well as the exterior façades, staircase cores, and elevators, maintaining its historical value and architectural character.
The works included the recovery of original plasterwork, moldings, and other decorative elements in common areas, while integrating contemporary technical solutions and premium-quality finishes within the new residential units. The operation successfully combined heritage conservation principles with current standards of habitability, accessibility, energy efficiency, and comfort—resulting in an intervention model that is both respectful of the past and fully adapted to present-day needs.
