The origins of Arbeteta Castle in Guadalajara possibly date back to the tenth century, based on the characteristics of its masonry and the Arabic style that the fortification characteristics denote. The castle stands in a privileged defensive and natural enclave, on a boulder in a narrow valley in the Alto Tajo Natural Park, and its walls are made of limestone masonry and lime mortar. After belonging to the Counts of Medinaceli in the fifteenth century, it fell into disuse and is currently listed as an asset of Cultural Interest (BIC).
